Theme settings

Updated on October 22, 2026

Where the design comes from

Each theme ships its design (colours, typography, spacing, layout and Enhance for GP options) as GeneratePress default settings. Anything you change in Appearance → Customize and publish takes priority over the theme’s defaults.

Change the design

  • Colours, typography and layout: the GeneratePress sections in Appearance → Customize.
  • Extra layout, blog, comment, footer and icon options: see Enhance for GP.
  • Fonts ship with the theme. You can change them in Customize → Typography.

Use or restore the theme design

To apply the theme design over settings you saved earlier, or to go back to your own settings, use the Theme Design section in the Customizer. See Theme design (settings import).

What is not included

The theme sets the design only. These are not imported, so set them up on your site:

  • Posts, pages and images.
  • Menus.
  • Widgets.
  • Your logo and site icon.
  • The home page setting.
